Day 1: Landing in a grassy wonderland
No matter where you are coming from, when you descend onto the Musiara Airstrip, the shackles of everyday life will soon melt away as the tranquility of the bush envelops you.
Upon arrival at Enkusero Mara, our family will warmly welcome and embrace you. After settling in, our in-house pastry chef and host, Jennifer will serve afternoon tea to replenish and quench after a long journey. The heavy sun will soon beckon you and you will join our legendary guides, William and Alex, on a thrilling sunset game drive, just in time to see a flourish of birds and herds of animals meander towards water holes.
Day 2: Action-packed adventure
At first light, soft gold lighting swaths the grassy plains of the Mara as animals emerge from the thicket and birds awaken. The smell of freshly brewed coffee will lure you to the main tent where Mesenka awaits you each morning. Here, you will enjoy a light breakfast before embarking on your game drive at 07:00.
Your full-day journey with William or Alex will take you beyond the camp to traverse the wide-open plains of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, where you will track animals, learn to read signs of the bush and uncover Africa’s untamed wilderness before finding a scenic spot along the Mara River on route for a picnic in the wild.
During migration season, we will spend the afternoon following the wild to observe the great herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope as they cross the Maasai Mara in their masses before returning to camp in the late afternoon – just in time for sundowners.
Day 3: Rich local insights
In the morning, follow our Maasai guides into the wilderness on foot. This leisurely paced walk traces the perimeter of our conservancy to discover smaller sightings – intriguing insect behaviour, birds, medicinal plants and even big sightings from a safe distance.
Lunch awaits your return to camp following your game drive adventure, with the chance to relax and refuel for the afternoon ahead. Take this opportunity to visit the local community with our team for a meaningful experience that takes you into a traditional Maasai village. It’s a touching and enlightening cultural experience highlighting the Maasai’s unique way of life and how they coexist with the wild.
Day 4: Tick off that Bucket List
Today, you’ll wake before dawn, beating the bird song for a hot air balloon ride. This thrilling bucket-list adventure is an exceptional way to see the rolling plains from the air, as you float gently above the dance of animals – giraffes swaying, zebras basking in the morning sunshine, a lone lion traversing the plains – a surreal moment that is bound to capture your heart!
Back on Terrafirma, elated from your ride, you’ll enjoy a delicious champagne breakfast before your return to camp.
This evening, dinner is served under the soft glow of lanterns surrounded by bush sounds. For your last night in the African wilderness, a traditional Maasai dance is a poignant farewell as your intrepid journey comes to an end.
Day 5: Leave with a promise to come back
Sleep in or watch the sunrise from the comfort of camp. On your last morning, we purposefully leave your morning free from activities to give you space for reflection and stillness as you prepare to say goodbye to our Enkusero family before your onward journey home.
